Are Dentures covered under Medicare?
No, Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover dentures or routine dental care. This means that you are typically responsible for 100 percent of the cost of dentures if you have Original Medicare.
Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C) plans can cover dentures and other routine dental procedures.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 97% of 2024 Medicare Advantage plans include dental benefits as part of their coverage.2
Medicare Advantage plans are required to cover everything Original Medicare covers, and they can offer other benefits that aren’t covered by Part A and Part B. It’s important to note these benefits aren’t available with all plans, and some or all of the plans in your area may not offer a dental benefit. Plans that do include dental coverage may come with additional costs such as coinsurance, copays and/or deductibles.
